Inspections are necessary to keep operations running smoothly and protect expensive equipment from problems that are expensive to fix.
The task of a maintenance technician is strenuous and involves risks.
Aside from equipment that produce dangerous amount of forces, many machines generate great amount of heat.
Heat is crucial in any working environment.
Aside from injuries due to direct contact with hot components, prolonged exposure to a hot working environment can lead to heat sickness.
Heat sickness causes lack of focus and even fainting which can lead to mishaps and accidents.
To some people with certain existing conditions, prolonged exposure to heat can be fatal.
It is important to make machine inspections more safe, especially with regards to heat exposure.
One of the ways this is accomplished is with the use of new technology.
Infrared cameras are temperature instruments that enables the user to take temperature readings from a safe distance.
The infrared cameras has sensors that detect the amount of thermal radiation from any surface or object and produces an image base on the radiation levels. Any object with temperatures above absolute zero emits thermal radiation so that the camera can measure the temperature of any object.
The user of the camera can quickly take readings of the temperature of an area or machine before coming near it. The user, therefore, can be warned of dangerous temperatures which is essential to preventing injuries.
